Surface Preparation & Usage

Application Guidelines

Ensure surfaces are clean, dry, and free from frost, dust, grease, old sealant, and other contaminants that could impair adhesion.

Clean non-porous surfaces (metals, glass, plastics) by wiping with a suitable solvent (isopropanol or xylene) on a lint-free cloth before application.

Apply sealant using a pneumatic or manual caulking gun. For solar and electronics applications, use precision dispensing equipment for consistent bead profiles.

Tool the sealant within the specified tooling time (typically 5–15 minutes depending on product) using a spatula or tool dipped in soapy water.

Allow full cure before exposing the bond to stress or service conditions — neutral cure silicones typically cure at 2–3 mm per 24 hours at 23°C/50% RH.

When using any solvent for surface preparation, always ensure adequate ventilation. Avoid heat, sparks, and open flames near solvents.
